How it works

How to convert HTML to APK, in four moves

About five minutes. Nothing installed on your computer, no changes to your code, no Android Studio.

  1. 1

    Drop your HTML or ZIP

A single index.html, or a ZIP with index.html at its root. The builder unpacks it, checks the size and shows the page inside a phone frame before anything is built.

  2. 2

Name it and give it an icon

App name, a square icon (every launcher size is generated), a theme colour for the status bar and splash, and a package name that identifies the app forever.

  3. 3

Switch on what the page uses

Camera, microphone or location if your HTML needs them — nothing else. On Pro, add a splash screen, onboarding, native bottom tabs and push notifications.

  4. 4

    Build, download, install

A real Android project is generated around your files, compiled and signed in the cloud. Download the APK, open it on any Android phone, and it is on the home screen — working offline.

What comes out

What is inside the APK?

Your HTML, CSS and JavaScript — unchanged — plus the five things a browser tab cannot give them: a native shell, a manifest, an icon set, a splash screen and a signature. The result is an ordinary Android app that happens to be written in HTML, and it installs, updates and appears on Google Play like any other.

Nothing of ours runs inside your page. The files are copied as they are; the shell around them is the same WebView configuration a developer would write by hand in Android Studio, done once, correctly, for every build.

The short answer

What is an HTML to APK converter?

An HTML to APK converter turns an HTML file — or a folder of HTML, CSS and JavaScript — into an installable Android application package (APK) without rewriting it. It generates a native Android project whose main screen is a WebView pointed at your files, bundles those files inside the app, adds an icon, a name and a splash screen, compiles it, signs it, and hands back an APK to install or an AAB to publish on Google Play.

Because the files ship inside the app, the result works with no server and no connection: a bundled HTML app runs in airplane mode. And because the engine is Chromium, anything that works in Chrome from a local file works in the app — with a short list of exceptions (CDN links, module scripts, root-relative paths) that this site's checker finds and its fixes guide explains.

HTML to APK is that converter, and it is free to use. The free tier produces a complete signed APK with no watermark and no expiry. Pro exists for Google Play — the AAB format and your own signing key — and for native extras: splash screen, onboarding, bottom tabs and push notifications.

Offline, precisely

Does an HTML app work offline?

Yes — a bundled HTML file or ZIP works entirely offline, because the files are inside the APK and loaded from the phone's storage. What stops working offline is anything the page still fetches from the internet, and a few browser features that are restricted for locally loaded pages. Here is the honest list.

Google Play

Can an HTML app go on Google Play?

Yes. Google Play accepts apps written in HTML; what it rejects is a bare wrapper around a website with nothing added. An app whose content is bundled inside it is not that — its content is the app. Play requires an App Bundle (AAB) rather than an APK, a privacy policy URL, a Data safety declaration and a content rating; the AAB and your own signing key are Pro, and the two documents can be generated on this site.

FAQ

HTML to APK — the questions people ask

How do I convert an HTML file to an APK?

Upload the HTML file (or a ZIP of your folder) to the builder, set a name, a square icon and a theme colour, and build. Your files are bundled inside a native Android app that opens them full-screen, and you download a signed APK you can install on any Android phone. About five minutes, no code changes.

Is HTML to APK free?

Yes. The free tier builds a complete signed APK with no watermark, no expiry and no card. Pro is only for Google Play — the AAB format and your own signing key — and for native extras: splash screen, onboarding, bottom tabs and push notifications.

Does the app work without internet?

A bundled HTML file or ZIP works fully offline — the files are inside the APK. Only things your page still fetches from the internet, such as a CDN script or a web font, need a connection; the Offline Readiness Checker lists them.

Can I convert HTML, CSS and JavaScript in separate files?

Yes. Put index.html at the root of a folder with the CSS, JS, images and fonts next to it, make every path relative, zip the folder's contents and upload the ZIP. Or merge them into one file with the HTML + CSS + JS Merger.

Why does my JavaScript work in Chrome but not in the app?

Because inside the APK the page is loaded from local files, which browsers treat more strictly: module scripts are refused, fetch() of a local file is blocked, and paths starting with / point at the wrong place. Each has a two-minute fix in the JavaScript fixes guide.

Do I need Android Studio or any coding skills?

No. The Android project is generated and compiled in the cloud from your files and the settings you choose. Your computer needs a browser and nothing else.

Can I publish the APK on Google Play?

Yes, with Pro, which produces the App Bundle (AAB) Play requires and lets you sign with your own key. You also need a privacy policy URL and a Data safety declaration — both can be generated with the tools on this site.

How big can my HTML or ZIP be?

5 MB of source content on the free tier and 18 MB on Pro. Images are usually what fills it; resize them to phone width and convert to WebP.

Can I convert an HTML5 game?

Yes. Phaser, Construct, GDevelop and plain canvas games convert well: export to a folder, zip its contents and upload. The game runs full-screen with your icon, and the back button is handled.

Does it make an iOS app too?

No — HTML to APK builds Android apps. An iOS build needs a Mac, Xcode and Apple's developer program and cannot run in the same cloud pipeline.

Will users keep their saved data when I update the app?

Yes. localStorage and IndexedDB persist across updates as long as the package name and signing key are unchanged and the version code is higher. The versioning guide has the rules.

Is it safe to upload my HTML?

The files are sent to the build service, used to compile your app and kept with your project so you can rebuild; deleting the project removes them. The browser tools on this site upload nothing at all. Never put secret API keys in the bundle — anyone can unzip an APK.
